Great lawns start with a solid foundation, just like any house. We will analyze your lawn, soil, and growing conditions and put together an agronomic plan to get your lawn growing healthy.

Core Aeration

Aeration is the single most important step in maintaining a healthy lawn and soil foundation.  Fall is the best time for aeration.  Spring is also a good time for those extra compacted or thatchy lawns.  Most lawns benefit with repeat aerations over time.  Benefits of aeration include:

  • Reduce soil compaction
  • Enhanced soil water uptake
  • Remove thatch
  • Improved fertilizer uptake and usage
  • Reduce water runoff and puddling in low areas
  • Increased turfgrass rooting
  • Improved air exchange between soil and atmosphere
  • Enhanced heat and drought tolerance

Disease Control

Lawn diseases are more common then most people expect and can cause the most damage. Mother nature plays a big role on how/when to treat  these.  An ounce of Prevention is worth more then a Pound of cure. By doing preventative treatments, usually starting in early May, we can knock down the early inoculations of disease spores in the plant and soil.  Most diseases are already in the grass plant long before you see any symptoms.  Once you start to see the symptoms it’s a lot tougher to control.

Flea / Tick / Mosquito Spraying

We offer both ORGANIC and conventional flea/tick/mosquito spraying. It is crucial to get on a monthly spray program beginning in spring to help minimize any infestations.  With the rise of illnesses that are transmitted from ticks and mosquitos this is becoming an important program to help reduce the risk to you, your family and pets.

Party Sprays: Give us a call before you have that summer barbecue or big backyard party.  Whatever your event may be, the experts at Pūr Turf can get you on a spray plan beforehand to help minimize unwanted guests such as mosquito’s, ticks and other biting insects.  Both organic and conventional controls are available.  Don’t forget to ask for a micro-nutrient spray to give your lawn a boost of green color that will make your guests jealous!

LAWN FERTILIZATION

Our fertilizer programs are designed to get the most out of your lawn with minimal environmental impact using the latest and greatest fertilizer technologies.  We use enhanced slow release technologies that reduce Nitrogen leaching and volatilization.

As part of our main program we also use foliar nutritional sprays to help boost the plants natural defense mechanisms to help combat the abiotic/biotic stresses.  These Foliar sprays contain essential micro-nutrients, carbohydrates, amino acids, and essential vitamins that are natural and safe.  By using a combination of these we are also able to reduce our Nitrogen and Phosphorus inputs, help feed the soil microbial population and enhance rooting. These sprays are done monthly starting in May and continue through the summer months which is when your lawn needs it most.

We also offer an Organic Fertilizer program as well using protein based fertilizers that deliver the proper nutrients and energy to the soil eco system.

Lime / Gypsum

Maintaining soil pH is important.  Too high or too low and the grass plant won’t be able to utilize the proper nutrients from the soil.  A soil test will provide us with the information we need to make proper applications.

Gypsum is used to help open up soil porosity and add calcium to the soil.  It also aids in salt remediation from road salt/ice melters that build up from cold snowy winters.

Overseeding / Seeding New Lawns

Fall is the best time for seeding.  We only use high quality certified seed blends that showed the best performance in seed trials for our region and have zero weed seed in the bag.  Certified seed blends go through rigorous testing before being bagged for purity measures.

Overseeding newer seed varieties into an older lawn can help it better withstand insect, disease, drought and shade conditions.  An initial investment will pay divedends by reducing the amount of water, fertilizing and pesticides required. Renovated lawns stay greener, look thicker and healthier.

Seeding Dense Shade Areas– Grass is a living organism and needs a decent amount of sun to survive.  Even grass seed blends that are made for shade still need sunlight to establish and grow.  Improving sunlight and air flow should be done before re-seeding shaded areas.

WEED CONTROL

Seeds of broadleaf weeds occur naturally in all soils, and can persist for 15+ years.  Most broadleaf weeds are prolific seed producers and can produce thousands of seeds per plant.  These seeds can disperse into your lawn from miles away by birds and wind.  Boxes/bags of poor quality, inexpensive grass seed may have unwanted broadleaf weed seeds as well.  Broadleaf weed seeds are often in any topsoil or mulch brought into a landscape.

Whether it’s broadleaf weeds like dandelions or clover, or those pesky grassy weeds like crabgrass and nutsedge- we can take care of them all.
